ALI PRIMARY SCHOOL SPRING FESTIVAL - MARCH
2006
The Dubai Pipe Band provided entertainment at the Jebel Ali Primary School
Spring Festival on Friday 3 March 2006. There, we had a stall (as
we had at the Dubai Country Club for the Great British Day and more recently,
the Kings School Fayre), where new people came along to join the "Friends
of Dubai Pipe Band" and a few expressed an interest in joining the band.
New members are always welcome. A special thank you to those of you who
helped out at the stall - especially Lee Bond who recently signed up for
Friends of Dubai Pipe Band, and will be joining us as a drummer. Lee also
took some great photographs of the event - see them on the Gallery page.
Thank you Lee!
THE
KINGS SCHOOL FAYRE - FEBRUARY 2005
If you attended the Kings School Fayre on 17 February,
you would have heard the Dubai Pipe Band and perhaps had a chance to visit
our stall. A very big thank you to all of our supporters who came along
to sign up for the "Friends of Dubai Pipe Band" - your contribution
to the Band Funds is very much appreciated. We hope you enjoyed the show
as much as we enjoyed performing for you! Thanks again to Cindy (Paddy's
wife) for providing us with photographs of the day (see Gallery page).
THE
GREAT BRITISH DAY - DECEMBER 2005
The Dubai Pipe Band performed at the Great British Day on Friday 9 December,
along with our friends from the Ras Al Khaimah Police Pipe Band. We also
had a stall with music, and an electronic chanter, which was tried out
by quite a few who were interested in learning or taking up the pipes
again, and we sold quite a few of the Band T-shirts which helped raise
funds for new equipment etc for the Band. Thanks to all who helped out
at the stall, and special thanks to Cindy (Paddy's wife) and Patricia
(Patrick's wife) for the photographs taken of the Band on the day, which
you can see on the Gallery page. Thank you ladies, it is very much appreciated.

You may have
heard the sound of bagpipe music as you strolled through Global Village
during the Dubai
Shopping Festival. A contingent from the Dubai Pipe Band was there in
full uniform each Wednesday evening,
meandering through the pavilions at the request of the British pavilion
management. Shoppers enjoyed the
authentic character that the band added to their Global Village experience,
offering applause and requesting
numerous photos. Earlier in the month, the Dubai Pipe Band provided a
cultural addition to the official inauguration of the new Global Village
site. Officials and dignitaries were treated to a pipe band performance
during the event's wind-up dinner.
